For this purpose, you will find on this page the possible individual requirements for calibration orders with a short description.
Please also indicate whether this should only apply to the order in question or to orders submitted by you in general.
Calibration certificate
Output form of the calibration certificate
You have the following selection options for the output of the calibration certificate:
- Calibration certificate is supplied with the goods in paper form
- Calibration certificate is sent to you by e-mail as a PDF file
- Calibration certificate is supplied with the goods in paper form and sent by e-mail as a PDF file
- Calibration certificate is downloaded by you via our calibration certificate download.
Due to sustainability, we recommend that you receive the calibration certificates exclusively via PDF.
If you require the calibration certificates in paper form, you can choose whether you would like to receive them stapled or unstapled as standard.
Language of the calibration certificate
In the standard version you receive the calibration certificates in German as the first language and English as the second language.
The following alternative options are available:
- German as a first language & language of choice as a second language
- Language of choice as first language & Language of choice as second language

Calibration of devices "as found" and "as left"
When calibrating devices, a calibration is always first performed "as found", i.e. as arrived.
If an adjustment is required on the device, you have the option of obtaining a separate calibration certificate for the calibration before and after the adjustment.
Please let us know if you want the calibration certificate only "as left" in case of an adjustment or if you need both calibration certificates - i.e. "as found" and "as left".
Please note that additional costs may be incurred when issuing calibration certificates "as found" and "as left".
Issue of the calibration certificate to a different address
If the address to which the calibration certificate is to be issued differs from the customer address, please inform us of the calibration certificate address.

Offer for approval desired in advance
You will receive a quote with the estimated costs (excluding any actions) and we will not start the process of your order until we receive an approval from you.
Direct process of the order without an offer in advance desired
If you want us to start processing your order directly, you will receive an order confirmation.
Specification of the order number mandatory
If it is mandatory for you to provide us with your order number in order to settle the invoice, please provide us with this number in advance and / or on the accompanying documents.
You are also welcome to provide the order number in the space provided on our Order Form.

Queries about calibration items
Damaged weights
We determine upon receipt that your weight(s) are damaged and no longer usable/calibratable.
Replace damaged weights without consultation
We exchange the weight without consultation (also with a cost limit).
Replace damaged weights only after consultationn
We will consult you before replacing the weight/s.
Do not replace damaged weights
Damaged weights will not be replaced and will be returned to you uncalibrated in their current condition.
Replacement of weights
The following individual requirements are available for the replacement of weights:
Weights should always be replaced:
Weights which are out of tolerance and have to be replaced should be replaced without consultation. Of course, you can also specify a cost limit for this, should the additional costs exceed this, we will consult with you.
Always consult before replacing the weight(s):
Weights that are out of tolerance and need to be replaced should always be replaced after consultation.
Weights should never be adjusted and should always be replaced directly:
Weights that can be adjusted should not be adjusted but replaced directly.
Serial number should be newly assigned:
By default the old serial number is taken over when replacing a weight. Please specify if a new serial number is to be assigned.
Issue of separate calibration certificates:
In standard the values before and after replacement are shown on one calibration certificate. We can also issue two separate calibration certificates for this purpose.
Take over marking:
If the previous weight has a mark, we can gladly reapply it to the replacement weight as well.
Missing weights in a weight set
If weights are missing in a weight set, they can be added (depending on availability).
Add missing weights without consultation
Missing weights can be added - depending on stock - without consultation.
Add missing weights after consultation
Missing weights may be added - depending on stock - after prior consultation.
Missing weights should not be added
Missing weights should not be added and the weight set should be calibrated in the current state.
Marking of weights desired
You would like to have your weights marked by etching in order to better distinguish them / assign them to departments / ... ?
We will be happy to mark your weights with the mark you specify (assuming sufficient space on the weight).
This can be done after previous offer or directly.
Adjustment of weights
The following individual requirements are available for the adjustment of weights:
Weights should always be adjusted:
Weights which are out of tolerance and have to be adjusted should be adjusted without consultation. Of course, you can also specify a cost limit for this. If the additional costs exceed this, we will consult with you.
Always consultation before adjusting the weights:
Weights which are out of tolerance and need to be adjusted should only be adjusted after consultation.
Weights should never be adjusted:
Weights that are out of tolerance should never be adjusted but calibrated with the current conventional weight value.
Please note that the calibration certificate shows that the accuracy class is not met!
Weights should not be adjusted but exchanged:
Weights that are out of tolerance should not be adjusted but replaced directly.

As a rule, the values before and after adjustment are shown on one calibration certificate. We can also issue two separate calibration certificates for this purpose.
Deviating recalibration interval
To make it easier for you to remember the date of the next calibration, we apply a recalibration reminder sticker for this purpose.
By default a recalibration interval of one year is assumed. If you have specified a different interval for your test equipment, please let us know. We will then apply the recalibration reminder sticker according to your interval.
Repair of your damaged/defective equipment
If your device has a defect that makes a calibration impossible and requires repair/replacement, please let us know the desired further procedure.
Repair damaged device without consultation
We forward the device directly to our service department, which carries out a repair at cost without further inquiry. The device is then calibrated and returned to you.
You are also welcome to specify a cost limit for this. Should this be exceeded, we will contact you.
Replace damaged device without consultation
If the device is irreparably damaged or repair is more expensive than replacement, we will replace the device directly without further inquiry.
You are welcome to specify a cost limit for this. Should this be exceeded, we will contact you.
Repair / replace damaged device after consultation
Please let us know if you would like us to consult with you prior to any repair or replacement.

We also ask you to note that in this case our supplementary sheet for Supplementary sheet for express calibration must be attached clearly visible on the outside of the shipping package.

The cost for this varies depending on the shipping weight / size and shipping service provider.
No receipt of our DAkkS brochure
Usually you will receive our current DAkkS brochure with each return delivery. If you do not wish to receive this, please inform us that you do not wish to receive a DAkkS brochure.
No receipt of recalibration reminder
Once your weights have been calibrated, our free recalibration reminder form will automatically be sent to you. Please let us know if you do not want us to send you the recalibration reminder form.
Fixed return date
You want a fixed return date for your delivery?
Please let us know the earliest or latest delivery date.
Collection of your delivery by you / your forwarding agent
Should you wish to collect your test equipment yourself after calibration / have it collected by your forwarding agent, please inform us in advance.
Pick up by you / a driver from your company
If you need to pick up the goods directly, please provide us with the contact details of the pick-up person. As soon as your goods are ready for pickup, we will contact you and arrange a pickup date.
Collection by a forwarding agent / shipping service provider selected by you
If the collection of your goods is to be carried out by a forwarding company selected by you, please inform us of the name of the forwarding company as well as the contact person.
The collection will only take place by notification from KERN. Unfortunately, notification by you is not possible. Please note that additional costs will be incurred if the goods are collected by a forwarding agent specified by you.
