Overview

The principle

Every electronic measuring instrument delivers accurate results only when it is regularly checked – that is, properly calibrated and, if necessary, adjusted. Only documented calibration turns an electronic balance, test weight, or other measuring instrument into a reliable measuring and testing device, particularly in quality-relevant processes.

Calibration accredited by the DAkkS (German Accreditation Body) ensures traceability to national standards and thus meets the specific normative requirements of quality management systems. Accredited calibrations have international validity.

Only an accredited calibration laboratory is authorized to issue calibration certificates bearing the accreditation symbol. These certificates document not only the measurement results and the methods applied, but also the traceability of the test equipment to national standards and the respective measurement uncertainty.
